As September edges that little bit closer and festival season is in full swing, the team at Quick Panda Productions have been busy planning September’s Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival. Despite the biblical weather that struck the festival last year, the event attracted thousands of mud-loving guests who partied throughout the weekend. With new roadways in place this year, an improved camping area and a new site layout on the festival map, revellers can look forward to a jam-packed weekend of apple inspired fun.

Take a pew around the crackling campfire and join local musicians for the BBC Introducing in Cornwall Fireside Acoustic Sessions. Adding a mellow twist to this year’s event, a selection of the region’s rising stars will jam beneath the moonlight for a series of intimate music performances.

Scrumpy fuelled games are set to be the order of the day as welly wanging and barrel pushing fill the festival agenda. Welcoming the exclusive Rattler Olympics, Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival will host a variety of competitions that the whole family can enjoy. Pick a team wisely and let the games begin!

Undergoing a festival makeover, the silent disco is set to be the most magical to date. Accessed through a hobbit’s entrance via a secret tunnel, party goers can dance among the trees and sing until the apples fall from the branches at this year’s Silent Disco in the Orchard.

The festival’s very own squad of grandmas are set to return for the third year armed with Werther’s Originals and Sherbet Lemons. Renowned for their cheeky antics and eccentric style, these race-ready ladies will be battling it out on motorised sofa’s in an attempt to top the podium at Grandma’s Sofa Derby. Taking place on Sunday 16th September, festival guests can place bets on which granny will win. Away from the comfort of the cushions, Little Orchard’s pensioners are likely to be found sipping gin and dancing to funk at Grandma’s Funky Wardrobe.

Festival organiser Ben Hall comments: The Little Orchard has a brilliant following from far and wide. The event has been going from strength-to-strength each year, so it’s really exciting to be adding new venues and also having the biggest line up to date. With an improved infrastructure and new festival layout within Healey’s Cider Farm, we can’t wait to open the doors and let the fun begin. We are most looking forward to the Rattler Olympics, the Orchard Silent Disco plus the usual activities such as the tractor rides, farm animals and the most important ingredient – the cider!

Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival also sees the return of Secret Cider Walks by Wild Wine Club – delicious local produce will be paired with apple-based tipples in a hidden opening within the orchard; The Zen Den – yoga classes and meditation sessions are available to help relax and revive tired minds; and Pig Racing – back by popular demand, the festival’s four legged friends will take to the pen in a head-to-head trotter race. Festival guests can place bets on which pig will be the fastest.

Sign the little ones up to a variety of exciting outdoor courses across the weekend including survival skills, wildlife and nature awareness, foraging and bush craft. Families can also head down to the Healey’s courtyard where children can meet the resident ponies, chickens, rabbits, ferrets, Pygmy goats and of course the Cornish black pigs. Alongside this, festival guests can also make the most of the complimentary tractor rides which showcase the beautiful grounds and blossoming orchard

With an abundance of delicious ciders on the menu, the biggest music line-up to date, and the resident grannies equipped with motorised sofas, Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival is one event in the Cornish calendar that should not be missed.
